Seth Godin, renowned marketer, entrepreneur and top selling author, has signalled the importance of search engine optimisation (SEO) when designing and building websites.
He spelled out the benefits of ethical SEO in an interview with .net magazine, a leading web publication.
Criticising so-called 'black hat' techniques that aim to trick search engines, Godin said honest, standards-led 'white hat' SEO was likely to be useful for years to come.
"As search engines get smarter, that makes black hat SEO less productive. But white hat SEO, the idea that you can design your site intelligently, will probably be here for a while," he said.
