Search engine optimisation news - Use marketing budget on content, say experts
- 30 June 2009
When companies have marketing budget to spend, a panel of business experts recommend investing as much as possible in creating good website content for search engine optimisation (SEO) purposes.
Better, fresher, high quality content, such as current news items and longer feature articles within well-architected websites designed for search is proven to help build better online results and return on investment (ROI).
The panel at an Internet marketing conference in the US were asked what to do if a new budget of $1m suddenly became available. Without exception, the business team singled out producing good quality content and working to link to it from other websites.
Scott Smigler, a specialist in online retail marketing, reported on the event. He said, "The panel agreed that links were important since Google's algorithm prioritises their analysis of links so highly, but the general implication was that if you create great content the links will come."
There is no point building a website if it can't be found using the search engines. It is important to factor in a sensible budget for effective search engine optimisation and consider engaging a specialist SEO consultant such as Fuse Optimisation.
