SEO for banks news - Online marketing investment is being wasted
- 2 April 2009
Investment in online marketing programmes such as search engine optimisation (SEO) for banks that are well known in UK town centres may be being wasted according to new research.
The business audit by an international firm has highlighted issues with performance and accessibility on websites owned by the nation's well known banks.
With the financial services industry under close scrutiny during the current recessionary times, it is perhaps somewhat surprising that none of the UK top five high street banks are ranking in top positions for key website indicators.
The report tests 1000 financial and legal websites in Britain for various functional aspects. For effective online marketing, the research states that websites must function effectively.
The report, compiled by independent company Sitemorse, assesses websites of businesses and organisations to evaluate areas such as performance, accessibility and compliance. It is possible for sites to fail in legislative areas such as the Disability Discrimination Act.
When considering SEO for banks, law firms, insurance or other companies in financial services, their websites need to be working well to ensure site traffic can increase effectively - a fact highlighted by this audit.
