SEO consultant report proves companies get ROI from search
- 14 May 2009
A respected annual SEO consultancy report just published reveals about 55 per cent of companies are planning to invest more business budget into natural search engine optimisation this coming year.
A little less than half of firms also plan to increase their pay-per-click (PPC) budgets. Both natural and paid search are seen as important areas where companies can achieve return on investment that is measurable during the current credit crunch-led financial downturn.
According to the UK Search Engine Marketing Benchmark Report, almost half of businesses - 48 per cent - achieved improved returns on organic, natural SEO campaigns while there were claims that 43 per cent of firms found PPC to be more successful.
Social media was highlighted in the report as an area that was increasingly being utilised by businesses as part of their marketing mix. Reportedly, 65 per cent of those surveyed are now using it, with 49 per cent now using Twitter, compared to 2008 when only three per cent were using it.
The report is organised by leading digital marketing website Econsultancy. Research director at Econsultancy, Linus Gregoriadis, said businesses were achieving return on investment with search marketing.
He said, "This research provides more proof that companies are turning to digital channels such as paid search and search engine optimisation where there is a measurable ROI. Crucially, companies are also getting better at measuring their returns from search marketing which, in turn, is leading to more investment."
